The prompt for the January DSMA Blog Carnival is “New Year with Diabetes : Striving for _______ in 2013!” where we are asked to share what we are looking forward to striving towards this year.
My word to fill in this blank is “balance” as I plan to strive for balance in my life. I feel like I have a constantly fast paced life and I want to be more intentional of realigning my priorities, taking time to build memories with those I love, and most importantly to take the time to take care of myself spiritually, physically, and emotionally. I want to learn to be present in the moment so I am able to truly take in all that life has to offer. I want to choose one thing to focus on at a time and truly enjoy it, from date nights to work to relaxing by the TV. I don’t want priorities to conflict or to take place of one another when they shouldn’t, and I want to be aware of when this occurs. It tends to get so easy sometimes to just go with the flow and I don’t want to do that. So this year I am going to strive for balance, and even though I know it’s going to be hard, at least I am going to try! And that is the best place to start.
